I’d keep it in the 1.3x v range. So the take away is manual fixed ratio overclocking really is a pointless endeavor on the 3900X. Just like the stupid tools from the Phenom days they do not seem to do exactly what I want. And goldchain said several times he got better results with PBO turned off, but I dont know what it is, or why it would be better on OR off. All core, a 3900x will struggle to reach 4.2ghz. Here is what I observed with a really good case airflow and Noctua D15 on my 3950X and 3900X alike. One Chiplet I can OC to around 4.3x and the other 4.5x. However, with the sh!tlet at 4.3, and the chiplet from 4.35 up to 4.425, I get the same score 7655. Thought I was in the all clear as it didn't power off immediately like it usually does if I push the clocks too high on lower voltages, but then the familiar happens and it powers down. I think i looked in every menu and submenu. One thing I like about my board is it has an AMD overclocking voltage setting that lets me dial it up and down by .1mv so I can do 1.34 or 1.35 and it kind helps me keep it on the lower end of what I think is acceptable for voltage. Fixing the frequency caps the single core performance to a lower level than peak boost will reach on auto. But this only works if all other cores clock in the direction of 3.6 GHz. Messing around yesterday, either my chip is a complete dog or I'm really screwing things up. AMD Ryzen 3900X I use reaches a boost frequency of 4,500 MHz and usually operates around 4.20 - 4.25 GHz on all [or most] cores. You try just setting the multi / voltage in the bios?
